Job Description Job Description The Diagnostic Imaging Paramedic provides direct patient care and clinical assistance to support high-quality diagnostic imaging. This role is responsible for preparing patients for procedures, verifying clinical information, starting intravenous (IV) access for diagnostic testing, assisting providers during procedures, performing basic clinical tasks, and ensuring accurate documentation within the electronic medical record. Essential Functions of the Role: • Prepares patients for their diagnostic imaging visit by directing and/or accompanying them to the exam room; helping them to position themselves for the examination and/or treatment; arranging examining room instruments, supplies, and equipment. • Verifies patient information and updates charts by interviewing patients; reviewing and/or recording medical history; taking vital signs; confirming purpose of visit or treatment. • Supports patient care delivery by helping health care providers during examinations; taking electrocardiograms; placing heart monitors; inserting IVs for diagnostic testing; disposing of contaminated supplies. • Minor in office wound care and/or dressing changes in vascular clinics. • Educates patients by providing medication and diet information and instructions, answering questions. • Completes records by recording patient examination, treatment, and test results in appropriate EMR or record, access and obtain records from various hospital EMR. • Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following, and enforcing standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations. • Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping patient care information confidential and in compliance with HIPAA. • Serves and protects the physician or health care provider practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) standards, if applicable. • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations. • Actively works towards positive interdepartmental care coordination to create the most effective patient experience possible. Minimum Qualifications: • Clinical healthcare experience required • EMT or Paramedic Certification • Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Word/Excel/Teams • Ability to travel to other offices as needed • Travel to offices may include travel to rural areas with provider team in company vehicle or plane • Valid driver’s license • Requires phlebotomy / IV insertion experience Desired Qualifications: • Clinical cardiology or vascular experience • Experience in a pre-hospital emergency medical setting • ACLS/BLS (Must obtain within 30 days of hire) • Experience in an EMR, ADP Workforce Now Work Environment Work is performed in a typical medical clinic and/or business office environment. Work in a clinical setting has the potential for exposure to blood and bodily fluids, and infectious pathogens. Must be able to use protective equipment as required. Physical Requirements This position requires full range of body motion. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, walk, and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to handle or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 25 pounds. Travel in vehicle 1-2 hours one way per day.
