The Painter Helper is responsible for preparing all assigned vehicles for the refinishing and reassembly process. S/he supports the Re-finishing technician in various aspects of their job as required. S/he restores damaged vehicles to pre-accident condition and should be restored, following the written repair order and company operational excellence processes. S/he plays a key role in delivering on the companies promise of speed, quality, and customer satisfaction. S/he is responsible for nurturing and cultivating a positive culture and work environment that aligns with the mission and values of the organization. What will you be responsible for? Complete all paint preparation processes for vehicles according to factory specification including the direction of the mentoring Re-finishing Technician and by following the written repair order Assist Re-finishing Technician in pre-op by preparing spray-out panels to determine blend needs and assist in sanding and buffing to ensure the paint finish meets quality standards Follow vendor procedures to maintain all tools and equipment, including maintenance of paint booth and booth filters and maintains a clean and organized workspace Clean, wax, polish and refurbish vehicles Verify repaired areas are finished to company standards Identify all areas of the repair that may require additional corrosion protection (hidden welds, etc.) Ensure that all paint operations are complete, all masking is removed, and all prior paint-related disassembly has been reassembled prior to returning the vehicle to the body technician Sand body areas to be painted and cover bumpers, windows, and trim with masking tape or paper to protect them from the paint. Do you have the education & experience? High school degree or equivalent, associate or bachelor’s degree preferred. Auto Body Vo-Tech certificate/school, highly preferred. 5+ years automotive body technician experience required. I-CAR training required What are the total Rewards? CULTURE!!!
