Position: Machinist / Mechanical Technician

Job Description: Support development of cutting-edge laser and electro-optical systems. The ideal candidate has at least 3 years professional machining experience but is interested in career broadening opportunities to expand into mechanical design and drafting. Must be comfortable with execution of rapid turn precision machining modifications of existing components and/or fabrication of new components. Candidates must also be willing to work additional duties related to facility support (clean rooms, high end chillers, generators, occasional simple facility maintenance activities, occasional travel to support testing at customer sites).

Required Experience / Capability:

  2. Ability to work in a dynamic and at times stressful environment and maintain composure and good working relationships under stress. Requirements change frequently and rapid-turn solutions must be developed frequently.

  3. Effectively manage schedule and priorities with minimal daily direction to meet mid to long-term schedule objectives.

  4. At least 3 years experience as a professional machinist.

  5. Experience with maintaining and configuring machine shop equipment.

  6. Professional GTAW / GMAW welding training for steel and Aluminum.

  7. Experience with facility maintenance activities.

  8. Experience with large chiller systems and/or generators.

  9. Positive attitude, strong troubleshooting skills and willingness to develop creative solutions to time-sensitive problems.

Additional Desired Experience / Capability:

  1. Expertise in Fabrication and Assembly Drawing Preparation for manufacturing (ISO and ANSI standards) including experience with version control and change record documentation.

  2. American Welding Society (AWS) Certification D1.1, D1.2, or D17.1.

  3. Experience with various manufacturing techniques - machining, sheet metal, injection molding, etc.

  4. Experience in Opto-Mechanical Assembly, including receiving and inspecting components, dry-assembly, bonding.

$20-40/hr depending on experience.
