In this role, you will report into Blue Origin's Legal & Compliance (L&C) department and will also be accountable to Honeybee's President for day-to-day issue spotting and management. Honeybee Robotics has independent capabilities in some areas and relies on central Blue Origin L&C support in other areas. For example, Corporate Governance, Intellectual Property, Risk and Insurance, and Trade Compliance are centrally managed. Other areas, like Honeybee Contracting and Procurement, are managed within Honeybee with best practices and advice available from Blue Origin.Responsibilities:

• As part of the company's Senior Leadership Team, this individual will advise Honeybee's leadership on legal and compliance matters.
• Develop corporate risk management and compliance strategies primarily in the areas of contracts, purchasing, and environmental health and safety - this shall be done in concert with Blue Origin's L&C team.
• Oversight of the company's Contracts function, including the drafting, review, negotiation, interpretation, and approval of all supplier and customer contracts. Liaison with Blue Origin's Contracts Department to share templates, best practices, and professional development.
• Providing guidance on government contracting topics such as CAS, TINA, commercial product and service assertions, data rights, domestic preference requirements, specialty metals, DPAS, Service Contract Act, and other significant and emerging areas.
• Leading the development of standard supplier contract templates (using established Blue Origin terms), provisions, and contracting processes, including the development of a robust contract flow-down process to ensure effective and early internal communication of customer contract requirements and flow down of those requirements into supplier contracts.
• Providing oversight of the Environmental Health & Safety function, which ensures compliance with federal, state, and municipal regulations while providing for a safe work environment.
• Advising Honeybee on legal issues pertaining to security, cyber security, and real estate. Providing first line of legal counsel and support for Human Resources, Finance, and other major functions and liaising with Subject Matter Experts within the Blue Origin L&C team as necessary.Note: Corporate Governance, Intellectual Property, Risk and Insurance, and Trade Compliance are centrally managed by Blue Origin's L&C department. Honeybee Robotics' Senior Legal Counsel may need to liaise on these matters but would not need to manage these areas for Honeybee Robotics.Required Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor, Law.
  • 8 or more years of experience, including leadership experience, in a corporate L&C organization with a focus on Contracts, either customer or supplier side (preferably both); OR
  • 8 or more years of experience, including leadership experience, in U.S. government procurement, including working experience with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and other U.S. government contractor standards and regulations.Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience working in an aerospace manufacturing business.
    • Basic knowledge of export control and ITAR compliance, although primary accountability will be with Blue Origin's Trade Compliance team.
    • Basic knowledge of OSHA standards and workplace safety practices in a manufacturing environment.Compensation and Benefits:
      • Salary range: $180,000-260,000 per year. Salary is determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
