The YMCA of Northern Colorado is hiring a captain to helm the ship that is known as the Longmont YMCA. Serving as the new Ed & Ruth Lehman Y Branch Executive Director located in Longmont, Colorado, the captain we seek must be organized and responsible, viscerally hard working and ready to make ship happen. Yeah, we said it. TheEd & Ruth LehmanY inLongmontopened a small storefront on Main Street in 1969. A few years later, the current 56,000-square-foot facility opened as a gym, fitness center and recreation facility.Located within Boulder County, Longmont is a city with 22 square miles and spectacular views of the Rocky Mountains. With more than 1,500 acres of parks and open space, Longmont is perfect for outdoor enthusiasts and home to several high-tech companies and a vibrant restaurant scene. It is conveniently located 37 miles from Denver, 16 miles from Boulder and 30 miles from Rocky Mountain National Park.TheLongmont Y serves a diverse, multicultural and welcoming population, one in which it's easy for people to make connections, do business, and to thrive as part of the community. You can communicate to diverse teams and our membership/participant base. Basically, you play nice with others.You are comfortable with nay, you love budgeting, implementing policies, tackling administrative and marketing duties, training and doing work that some may consider dull but you certainly would not! You have experience with or are willing to master our membership management system.You understand that the Y is not just a gym and this position is not just a job. You know that your efforts will change lives, give opportunities to those in need and help your neighbors thrive. You can see that your work at the Longmont Y will be a purpose, a reason to give a ship. Salary range is $65,000- $75,000 per year. This position is year round, full-time exempt and includes generous medical, dental, vision, life, long term disability insurance options, paid vacation, sick and holiday time, free YMCA family membership, 50% reduced rates on YMCA of Northern Colorado programs including personal training, swim lessons, after school programs, day camp programs and more. We provide contributions of 10% of your salary to the YMCA Retirement Fund for eligible staff. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in human services, social services, business or equivalent.
  • Six or more years of management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency.
  • Ability to direct total operations through volunteer development, supervision of staff, development and monitoring of branch budget, marketing and public relations, and program development.
  • Experience in management and development of volunteer involvement; ability to recruit top community leaders.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Proven track record of developing authentic relationships with others.
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
  • YMCA Multi-Team or Branch Leader certification preferred.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications may be required. Essential Functions
    • Represents and promotes the YMCA in the local community and develops positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities. Develops, maintains, and models collaborative relationships with community agencies in service delivery area.
    • Oversees the hiring, training, development and supervision of staff.
    • Develops, manages, and monitors operating budgets for the specific branch areas and meets or exceeds budget targets.
    • Develops and directs high-quality relationship-based member engagement strategies. Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions with staff, volunteers, members, and the community.
    • Fosters a climate of innovation to develop member-focused programs in all departments to support the Y mission, goals, and strategies.
    • Ensures the safety and maintenance of high-quality facilities, grounds, and equipment, working with the appropriate departments to address any issues in a timely manner.
    • Directs the financial development activities of the branch.
    • Coordinates the development of branch committees. Directs the volunteer activities (policy and program) of the branch.
    • Assists in creating marketing and communication efforts to effectively communicate the benefit to the community.
    • Serves as a member of Y executive management team and supports the overall objectives of the YMCA.
    • Participates in required Manager on Duty shifts.
