Firmware Engineer at Micron Technology, you will be responsible for
providing the technical capability in the creation and integration
of Firmware IP for use in SSD products. The lifecycle of this
responsibility is associated with the organization's product
development life cycle and can range from product inception to
obsolescence or any portion that is defined by specific
assignments. You will provide technical support to implement the
development and quality assurance processes to ensure the Firmware
IP consistently provides the required functionality, usability,
quality/reliability, performance, and supportability to ensure
Micron SSDs meet or exceed their design targets.Longmont SSD
Firmware Group consists of teams that cover Front End, Flash
Translation Layer, and Back End. It specializes in first-of-a-kind
development activities that require team members to adapt quickly
to groundbreaking technologies. Management team champions and

contributors.Responsibilities and Tasks
- Develop and test product
- SSD Products: Develop firmware IP subsystems for SSD products
that meet or exceed the requirements of the technical spec matrix;
including, but not limited to: Performance, Endurance, Capacity,
Functionality, and Quality/Reliability
- Firmware Quality Assurance: Develop a firmware functional
integration test capability that ensures the firmware subsystem
meets the quality, functional, and performance requirements
required at each integration achievement in the product development
lifecycle
- Develop and deliver processes
- Firmware Quality Assurance Process: Develop and deliver a
functional integrity test process that is capable of continuously
improving pre-integration firmware quality, while reducing test
time, and maintaining test cost
- Firmware Development Process: Develop and deliver a cross-site
firmware development process that is capable of continuously
improving firmware quality while reducing firmware development
cost
- Proactively provide detailed, and accurate summarized
information regarding activities within the firmware development
organization and the status of firmware development projects
- Develop people
- Multi-functional Collaboration: Develop and maintain open, and
constructive relationships with peers and management
- Team Development: Provide technical capability that
continuously improves team involvement, morale, and efficiency
- Personal Development: Work to continuously improve your
technical capability and communication skillExperience
- 7+ years of proven experience in the embedded systems
development field is required.
- SSD or data storage firmware development experience
- Proficient in C/C++, Python programming languages
- Experienced with debugging firmware using tools such as
gdb
- Advanced working knowledge of principles, concepts, theories
and/or practice of Software Engineering (i.e. design, analysis of
software systems, and code refactoring)
- Advanced working knowledge with standard protocols NVMe, PCIe,
SM-Bus, OCP
- Proven leadership experience for a small team
- A self-motivated and results-driven
- Ability to multi-task
- A fast learner who can apply newly acquired technical knowledge
to SSD product development
- Must be effective in a team environment, engaging in active
conversations and contributing toward raising the team's
performance
- A strong growth mindset that continuously seeks out process and
quality improvement
- Ability to deliver on a tight schedule
- Strong problem-solving skills by decomposing problems into
logical components that can be clearly implemented in firmware
platforms.
- Comfortable with in-person, onsite collaborative
environmentsEducationBachelor's or Master's degree from an
accredited U.S. University in Electrical Engineering, Computer
Engineering o,r Computer Science.The US base salary range that
Micron Technology estimates it could pay for this full-time
position is:$141,000.00 - $239,000.00Our salary ranges are
determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on
each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new
hire salaries of the position across all US locations. Within the
range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional
job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience,
tenure and relevant education or training. The pay scale is subject
to change depending on business needs. Your recruiter can share

during the hiring process. Additional compensation may include
