Wired and Wireless Product Applications Engineer

THE ROLE:
The person in the role of Product Applications Engineer (PAE) provides technical support for Xilinx FPGAs, SoCs, and ACAPs as well as the associated Xilinx tools, software drivers, and IP. The PAE works with customers, field engineers, technical marketing, and factory engineers in a worldwide team to rapidly resolve complex technical issues. The PAE enables customers to complete their designs and recommends improvements to AMD products. The environment is fast moving with a focus on emerging technologies.

THE PERSON:
The ideal candidate has experience or a shown interest in designing / debugging high-speed wired and wireless interfaces. A candidate in this position will have the opportunity to work with everything from signal integrity and PCB design all the way through Linux/Baremetal application stacks. A successful PAE is hungry to learn and is able dive into projects, learning as they go. Excellent written/spoken communication skills and a commitment to teamwork are vital to debugging challenging issues as a cross-functional team, and interfacing effectively with end-users.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide direct technical support to multiple customers on critical design issues with a focus on Wired and Wireless interfaces, IP, and Software
  • Collaborate with cross functional team members to identify customer problems and propose appropriate solutions
  • Advise customers on design techniques and the implementation of alternative solutions
  • Develop tactical projects to explain or demonstrate product features
  • Generate self-support materials including application notes, reference designs, and answer records
  • Analyze customer cases and use data to influence product improvements
  • Identify gaps in products, provide test cases and work with engineering to resolve PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
    • Demonstrated proficiency in C
    • Experience with the Linux Kernel, networking drivers, and Baremetal Embedded SW applications
    • Demonstrated debug of complex issues using common lab tools including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers and/or in-system debuggers
    • Experience with FPGA based design, PCB design and/or hardware validation
    • Knowledge of best practices for designing and debugging embedded systems
    • Experience with Verilog, VHDL, Xilinx Vivado Tools, and RTL Simulation Tools is preferred
    • Experience with Wired and Wireless protocols and/or industry IO standards is preferred
    • Outstanding oral and written communication skills
    • Ability to communicate technical information in an organized and understandable fashion
    • Good organizational skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize and track many activities
    • High initiative and self-starter
    • People focused approach with a demonstrated concern and desire to work with and assist customers ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
      • BS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related equivalent plus two years of related experience
      • MS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related equivalent

        LOCATION:

        This role can be based in either Longmont, Colorado, San Jose, California, or Remote

        COMPENSATION RANGE & BENEFITS:
