Our Life & Safety operations department is hiring a - NOC
Operations Engineer -for our - Longmont -location at - 1601 Dry
Creek Drive .
( Shift -M-F 8am to 4:30pm )
The - NOC Operations Engineer -is responsible for outage response,
high-level systems analysis, evaluation, documentation, and
implementation requiring a thorough knowledge of administrative and
technical skills related to the IEN/VoIP platform. Directs and
participates in all phases of system development with emphasis on
outage response and repair, analysis, evaluation, integration,
testing, and acceptance phases. Responsible for ensuring quality
services are delivered for particular task(s) and is seen as the
task leader. The NOC Operations Engineer will coordinate strategies
for rapid repair, deployment, and maintenance of IP telephony voice
communication architecture and the Intrado (IEN-Voice) network, its
component hardware/software, and IP telephony/voice applications.
This includes VoIP/IEN-Voice initiatives and configuring/optimizing
all Intrado VoIP telephone systems and services, both internally,
and those integrated with Internet-based services
MAJOR JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
Establish and document deliberate rules around network equipment
configurations for assigned networks (e.g., IEN Voice Network,
etc.)
Maintain and provide updates in regard to projects assigned to the
designated department for implementation
Collaborate with department contacts and appropriate customers in
recommendations for system enhancements
Perform traffic studies on existing infrastructures and provides
recommendations based on analysis
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all products and services related
to voice traffic including practices and advancements in the
industry
Lead and participate in the development and writing of technical
job instructions, white papers, and training related to technology
and operational expectations
Respond to escalated issues and provides technical support for the
designated technical functions (e.g., Engineers, NOC, Circuit Order
Management, etc.) as necessary
Provide support by answering questions from internal clients and
team members and ensure functions are efficiently performed in a
quality-oriented manner
Keep up to date on current workflow and department procedures in
order to respond to questions, provide work direction, or complete
tasks
Support inquiry response and conduct outage related research and
analysis
Participate in On-Call rotational support as required and function
as a Subject Matter Expert (SME/Leader) during technical outages
and or incidents
Establish and document deliberate rules around network function and
escalation requirements for the IEN-Voice network
Thoroughly documents requirements according to departmental
standards and methodologies
Continuously evaluate interfaces with other departments, divisions,
and the efficiency and effectiveness of workflow between areas of
responsibility
Document all activities and efforts related to outage response in
ticketing system
Function as an operational liaison between various business units
and leaders, as well as between internal staff and external
clients
Focus tasks and data collection on operational initiatives at the
tier three level
Continue to stay current on assigned business unit technologies to
provide continuous tier three level support as needed
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Applicant for this job will be expected to meet the following
minimum qualifications.
Education
Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related
field required. Experience can be substituted for educational
requirements
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 3 years voice engineering work experience or similar
position/role required
Minimum 3 years of related Voice Network operations experience
required
Minimum 3 years first-hand knowledge of SIP, H.323, TCP/IP
protocols preferred
Minimum 3 years first-hand knowledge of ACME SBC (configurations,
HMR's etc---.) preferred
Minimum 3 years first-hand knowledge of Sonus (GSX, PSX, SGX
etc---.) preferred
Minimum 3 years PBX and Circuit based telephone network experience
preferred
Minimum 3 years T1/DS0/DS3 provisioning/test and turn-up and years
of circuit switch/PSTN network experience preferred
CCNA certification preferred/ CCNP preferred
TECHNICAL
A strong understanding of VOIP QoS issues and mitigation
strategies
In-depth/strong technical knowledge of ACME SBC (configurations,
HMR's etc---.)
Strong knowledge of configuration and optimization of VOIP
equipment
Must have direct experience with Cisco switches and routers
In-depth/strong understanding of MOS Score, Jitter and all VOIP
related troubleshooting methods
In-depth knowledge of SIP monitoring/debugging/troubleshooting
tools using Hammer E- XMS/Wireshark/call generator or other related
tools
First-hand knowledge of Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP)
network builds
In-depth/strong technical knowledge of circuit switch/PSTN
network
Strong technical knowledge of Sonus Soft switches
(GSX/PSX/SGX/GSI/EMS etc---)

For candidates located in Colorado, the hiring salary for this
position is anticipated between $70,000 -and $75,000 per year and
will be commensurate with experience. Candidates may be eligible
for differential pay based on shift worked and premium pay for
overtime and/or being on call.
